With an essay by Peter Stamm • Nature in pictures – a book that opens the senses to the fascination of the forest.
As various reports repeatedly led photographer Markus Bühler into the woods, he began to capture their calming atmosphere, their beauty, and the small and large cycles of life through photography. Gradually, the visual language of the forest shots became denser and denser – a project idea was born.
“Through the camera, the power of nature can be documented,” says Markus Bühler. “Every moment is irretrievable. Added to that is the silence and inner peace one feels in the forest. And the waiting for the perfect light – sometimes wild and strong, sometimes gentle and quiet – which sometimes comes without warning.”
This picture book showcases the diversity of our forests: from winding mixed forests with deadwood and vines to striking mountain forests with Swiss stone pines and larches. The interplay of plants creates wonderful settings and unique scenes. A book that opens the senses to the fascination of the forest.
